Hi everyone.

My baby girl, Sara, was born on 12/11. As you see she is 7 months old now. Her sleep has gotten so much worse lately. She was never a good sleeper but now it's worse. The most she ever did was 6 hours. Now we're lucky if we get 2 hours. We're at a lost for what to do. Her naps got better. She naps for at least an hour every 3 hours or so. She fusses so much going to sleep now and doesn't seem to want to go down. Any tips would be helpful. We'ver tried everything we can think of to get her to sleep. Thanks!

Jenn

Oh you poor thing - that must be exhausting for you !

I have used "The new contented little baby book" by Gina Ford since my son was born. It was recommended to me by a friend who had similar issues as you with her little girl (she wouldn't go to sleep and my friend used to have a sling and carry her daughter round the house all day and have her in her bed at night!) She started this routine when her daughter was 8 months and it helped her get to sleep on her own and happy within a couple of weeks. After following it with my son (now 7 months also) I am so pleased I did as he now goes to sleep on his own during the day and has sleeps 7-8pm-7am.

The routine is about babies being on a 12 hour cycle and at 6 months old they don't need more than 3 hours sleep during the day (45 mins in the morning - then 2 1/2 hours in afternoon) so then they are tired enough to sleep through the night.

It does have quite a strict routine for bath time etc but I just adapted it to suit our lifestyle.

Also check that she's not hungry as she may be heading for another growth spurt.

For those days where it all goes pear shaped (yes we do have the odd one ha ha ) when sick or teething, I use a lullaby CD, a deep warm/hot bath and baby massage and put a drop of lavender oil on a cloth and pop it in bed with him.

I do hope your little girl settles down soon and you get some rest too. All the best xx
