What does your 22 month olds eat for lunch? My girls refuse to eat more than yogurt and some crackers. They used to eat cheese and bread and different fruits and now they don’t want anything to do with that. It’s frustrating because they are small for their age (19 and 20 pounds) Any suggestions for other foods to try.

I have 22 month old twins that used to be OK eaters, now they just seem to pick or outright refuse. I disagree that a child will not starve himself. I have a 5 year old that is an atrocious eater and will go on hunger strikes for days. He then crashes and gets headaches. It is a complete nightmare. We've tried both "letting him decide when/what he wants to eat" and the "you will eat this or get nothing" philosophies. Neither work. I am so worried that my twins are headed down that same dark road and it's un-nerving.

My son has never been a really good eater, and he looks thin but is strong and healthy and full of energy. Are your girls full of energy and healthy looking, I've been told not too worry too much about the lack of eating (a child won't starve itself) I know how frustrating it is to go to the effort of making all these interesting meals only to throw it in the bin later...Keep perseveering though. Do they eat a good breaky or dinner? That might be all they need for the moment, it's normal. I used to think my 8yr was a bad eater, now she eat anything put in front of her! Good luck :)

I have to laugh as I see so many posts about grilled cheese! :)! That is my go to food. Lunches are chicken nuggets, sweet potato french fries, mac and cheese with veg and/or meat mixed in, sandwiches. Have you tried hummus? They could dip their crackers in it. My son loves dip. Fresh veggies and dip go down well.

My daughter is will eat quite a bit. I give her cut up hot dogs, grilled cheese, pizza, spaghetti, Mac and cheese, quesadilla, pb and j sandwiches, and deli turkey meat. I always partner her food with some type of fruit or vegetable. My daughter loves the Gerber fruit pouches, which come with both fruit or veg. In them.

I am very lucky to have twin boys that eat pretty much everything. It is very rare that they turn something away. They will eat anything from fish w/ brown rice to salads! When they have turned their noses up at something, I have always stayed consistant. If they don't like it right at that moment, I will revisit it a few days later.

My son, who used to eat anything, is now picky too. I give him half of a children's vitamin (i checked w/ his Dr) and offer him small amounts of food to snack on as he is too busy/distracted to sit and eat. Also for dinners he would absolutely refuse to eat so our Dr told us to make what we were having and if he was hungry, he would eat it. Some of his favorite snacks are frozen berries, frozen peas, lunch meat like turkey, he loves pb&j, and cheese. Also he is super into helping, so if I let him help cook dinner he will eat as we cook so then I know at least he is getting something good.

My little one eats PB and J sandwiches, corn, chix nuggets, and sometimes, fries. He also likes applesauce, hotdogs cut up , brown rice with steak tips cut up small, a dish i call one meat dish with hamburger meat, potatoes, corn, and green beans layered with a little bit of ketchup on top and raisins or craisins. Its frustrating for me because he has a milk allergy and I'm not able to try much of anything for him because of his allergy. . He's 24 lbs and about 32 inches tall. He's considered small for his age as well.

My 22mos old is having the same issue. I can get her to eat rice, apples, popcorn, and pizza; that's about it. This, though, has been my experience to one extent or another with all my children around this age. It drives me crazy every time and makes me think I'm not doing something right, but by 3 yrs at the latest mine resume eating, just keep trying and they will get there. Good luck

I find just about any soup I make is accepted. Plus she gets veggies that way because she really isn't interested in veggies on their own. My little one LOVES avocado, just cut up into chunks. Cottage cheese and blueberries are also a favorite. Recently we got a fruit smoothie (from a store) and she thought it was such a novelty that she drank almost half of it. I have been making them at home occasionally with 1 (or more) cup of mixed frozen berries (blueberries, raspberries and strawberries) some banana, some milk till its liquidy enough and a bit of OJ. You could use yogurt or whatever else you have. I blend it and give it too her like its a big treat. Its usually still a bit frozen so it tastes like a dessert and she drinks it usually in a couple of sittings (or my husband finishes it, lol) Good luck and remember to just keep trying things. Sometimes they wont eat something forever and then all of a sudden change their minds. My little one would not eat potatoes (not even mashed) right from the very beginning and this week she decided that potatoes are good, lol. So yea, just keep offering things, eventually they will eat.
