Hi my daughter will be one on Dec 3rd. She is my 3rd daughter, and I am struggling with finding something to buy her, that she doesn't already have from her big sisters.

What are other people buying their little ones? I may get some ideas.

Thanx

You don't need to buy her anything. Maybe you can put some money into a savings account for her or make her something like a picture slideshow of her first year as a keepsake. If you really feel the need to buy something, howabout a new book?

It is tough
We bought our son his own foam chair to sit in while watching cartoons. We also got him a book from I See Me. They are a company with many different stories to pick from, but each one is personalized with your child's own name - IN THE STORY. it is very very cool. And you can dedicate it to her 1st birthday if you want. Check out their website at www.iseeme.com
Good Luck.

I bought him a bunch of stack and surprise blocks and a toy kitchen set. My son loves to open cabinets and so I figured a toy kitchen would work wonders. Hope you get some ideas.

Get her some gift wrapping paper lol My first son, who is 9 now, found the wrapping paper a lot more exciting than the toys I got him for his first birthday :)

I have gotten my 11 month old some themed things from his favourite tv show called Giggle and Hoot. He is getting a tshirt, pj's and a dvd.

My son was born on Dec. 15th so for his birthday we bought him a ride along dinosaur that will help him learn how to walk we also bought him a few suits of clothes. We have already had his bday party, he got all kinds of toys from a wagon filled with those big legos to a jumping ball that plays music and vibrates. For christmas were just getting him a toodler bed, a toybox and a new bedset all in the theme of cars because he loves them. lol. I hope this helped you figure out what to get your little girl.

You could also make or buy her a blanket with her name on it, so it will be separate from her older siblings' things.

I got my baby her first doll and rocking horse. My mom got her a kit called Teach My Baby from Target.com. It isn't a multi-media teaching kit, though, so you teach her instead of the tv, cd, or talking book.

I don't know what to do for stalking stuffers at this age though!! What have you given your previous two at age one and what do you plan to give your one year old this year????

I chose to get my son, who will also be one on the 3rd, a little drum that has some smaller instruments stored inside it. I wanted to get him something fun, not all about learning. Most of the toys these days seem to be learn, learn, learn. He has some of those, but I think he needs some "just for fun" type toys. Also got him a little wagon that he can push around and fill with toys.

I am having that same problem. My daughter, also the 3rd, has three big brothers and I can't think of things for her that she doesn't have already! Thanks for asking the question!

Mary, your not stealing my idea, we are sharing ideas!! That's what we are here for. They way I look at it, we as parents have birthdays and then we have mother's day and father's day. Why shouldn't our children have an additional day to themselves? I actually borrowed this idea from someone I sat next to at a conference. So share my ideas all you want.. Happy Thanksgiving...

Stephanie, what a great idea! I was born in October, and living in Buffalo, its always cold then, so i have never had the pleasure to have an outside birthday party.
i was bummed when i found out my son never would either. but when he gets older, that is def an idea i may steal from you.

Our daughter Winter turns 1 on December 27th so we are definitely separating Christmas holiday from her birthday by throwing a "Bollywood" inspired bash on the 26th. We're getting her a Schoenhut My first piano for her birthday and a wooden activity center for Christmas. Good luck and make it fun!

My Little Man will be 1 on December 24, 11:08 PM. Poor thing could not have gotten much closer to Christmas. I love the iseeme book idea. I just went and bought one... We are doing small for his birthday and big for Christmas. And every June we are celebrating big time with a 1/2 birthday, calling it Logan Day. This will give him a day all of his own not around Christmas.... I hope he does not become too spoiled.

Because my daughter's birthday is on Christmas day she is getting a heap of presents and I'm dividing them 50/50. Half will be wrapped in birthday paper and the other half will be from Santa. Although I have got her an outdoor cubby house for her birthday. My eldest got a trampoline for her 3rd birthday and a swing set for her 4th so I wanted to make sure that my youngest is getting something big for her birthday to share with her sister. I'm not going too crazy as my mum is coming for Christmas and she is a typical Grandma who is spoiling my girls!

My son loves dancing and making noise so we are getting him some childrens musical instruments. I guess it depends on your childs personality, every child is different, get him/her what they are interested in, developing their stronger senses.

My daughter will also be 1 on Dec. 3 :) I have a 2 year old that does NOT like to share her toys so I will probably get the little one toys of her own even though her sister will want to play with them too! I would get her clothes, but she already has so many she probably won't wear half of it! lol

My lo will be 1 on dec. 6th, he loves pillows so we will be getting him one of those pillow pets, and have not thought of anything else so far. Dont plan on getting him much cause he will have plenty of gift from the rest of the family, so I just buy him clothes and toys as he needs them or grows out of them.

We got my daughter a build-a-bear at 6mo. For her first bday we're letting her choose a new outfit (or maybe a new lovey- who knows) and an engraved music box. I went a little yardsale crazy with toys and we have so many its shameful. I figure she'll get "Stuff" from Gramma and will never know the diff. I think its a milestone birthday so a keepsake is the name of the game. 1yr olds don't know the difference and don't care much about material things. For christmas she is getting a couple squishy cars, two weebles, some more Dr. Suess board books, and whoooo knows. :)

I'm getting my son a soft indoor climbing structure.
I teach preschool and every school I've taught at has something similar to this in the infant/toddler classroom. They're really great for gross motor development, and it gives him an active area indoors during the winter or when its too hot to be outdoors in the summer. There's a few different styles you can get, depending on what you have room for. I'm going with one for the corner so we still have room, even in our apartment. I'm not sure where you live, but you can get them at any teacher supply store (Lakeshore Learning) or online (Discount School Supply).
