I was at the pediatrician with the same thing today -- you can also express some breastmilk and put a drop in his eye (put it in the corner and when he blinks, it'll move the milk around his eye). That will also help! :)

My son was that way for a few weeks (he is now a month old and it is gone) Doc told me to massage it and that I could apply a warm compress if I wanted. She also told me it could last 9-12 months. As long as the eye and the area around the eye are not red it is ok.

I've heard the same thing as Kelli. Massage it often and it should unplug the duct.

My baby has the same thing. I went to his pediatrician and he said as long as his actual eye isnt red then it isnt an infection. He told me the duct between his eye and nose is closed and I need to gently massage the inner corner of the affected eye in a circular motion then rub down toward the nose.Wash hands first (obviously). Do this several times a day until the cole and tears are gone. Hope this helps!
