How much are you feeding you baby and how often? We have been feeding my son 4 onces every 3 hours, execpt for when he goes to bed and wakes up then he gets 5. He has now started screaming when he finishes his bottle. Usally if he gets his pasi he will stop. He still tends to wait 3 hours before wanting more food. Daddy says hes crying cause he wants more, but I don't think that is it or he would want food more frequently. What has been your experince? How did you know to feed your baby more?

Every baby will be different. My little one is 3.5 months old and is drinking 4-5 bottles in a 24hr period - all just under 8 oz. No cereal yet. I would start increasing bottles by about half an ounce or so every 4-7 days to see if he would finish it. You can always double check with your peditrician too. Good luck!

In the book, What to Expect: The First Year, it says: 2 to 2.5oz multipled by the weight = x. Then x divided by the number of times your baby feeds normally = how many oz at how ever many lbs you should be feeding at each feed.



So right now i do, 2.5oz x 12lbs = 30oz. 30oz divided by 5 times a day = 6oz per feeding.



I realized if you want your baby to sleep more (not being hungry) then going by their weight and the same amount of feedings is just going to be equal so your baby will almost eat at the same amount of hours.. soo.. if you slowly go down to a less amount of times a day, then your baby will eat more at a time and be satisfied longer.. if that makes sense! So, it mostly depends on your baby and its weight; i just use the book mixed with a bit of how my baby acts.

My son is just over 3 months...he eats 4-5 oz of formula (with cereal in it to help keep it down) every 4 hours accept at 10am he has apple juice to offset the cereal...then he sleep all night from 10pm to 6am. We started to give him more when the binky stopped helping the crying when he finishes his bottle...sometimes he just wants to suck, the binky satisfies that...the other thing is if he's not hungry he won't eat. Sometimes he will only eat an ounce or 2 then he just plays with his bottle.

Try giving your son an extra ounce and see if he eats it. If he doesn't want it he will probably just play with the bottle. good luck!

my son is 11 weeks old and is feeding every 3 hours taking 7 ounces i had to up the amount off food because he is so hungry. i think ur husband is right he needs more then 4 ounces i suggest u up it to 5 and see how it goes good luck
