IDK, my first watched tv more when she was younger, but I never had used it as a babysitter. Also I didnt know then that babes were not supposed to watch tv...I thought Elmo and the wiggles were fine...but for my newest I will not allow him to watch tv until he is 3. I have audiobooks galore for him, and in all car rides I must admit the My Baby Can Read dvd's are playing.

Depends on the show... he likes them with bright colors and lots of music to keep him entertained

My daughter does the same thing - she looks around you if you block her from the TV - and the world stops when Moose and Zee come on the screen! So funny! :)

Kirby watches Baby Signing Time and My Baby Can Read but after that the TV gets cut off. Sometimes if we need to wind down at bedtime we watch Goodnight Moon and other Sleepy Time tales.

Ben does watch a bit of TV. I put it on PBS for a few hours as back ground noise in the mornings and I'll catch him sitting and watching when something catches his attention (usually it's the Cat In The Hat). i don't want to get in the habit of using the TV as a babysitter, so I limit what we "watch" to PBS for a little bit in the morning and then switch it to a music station for the rest of the day. We do watch the news, Jeopardy & Wheel of Fortune in the evenings and Ben looooooooooooooves Wheel of Fortune (I think it's the colors) which sort of cracks me up.
But no, he doesn't sit and watch an entire show start to finish (nor would I encourage him to), but he will stop and look for a few moments.

my son will actually look around you to watch TV.

he will stop whatever he's doing for Moose and Zee.

and he loves stuff with singing. Jack's big music show (we're doing his 1st bday Jack's big music show themed), the backyardigans, wonder pets, yo gabba gabba, Laurie Berkner, and the Pajanimals on Sprout.

He even likes music videos. the black eyed peas and lady gaga will keep him quiet through the whole song.

anything else is just really background noise. he doesnt really watch like he does the music stuff, but i do think the TV being on keeps him quiet and playing with his toys longer than if it wasnt on.

But I love Olivia. lol.

I never thought i would allow my baby to watch TV. I never allowed my first son to watch until he was 3 and it worked for him, but for this one it is different. He loves his music and has either the hi fi going or something like Barney or a childrens' songs show. He does not sit and watch, but he loves hearing it and looking up every once in awhile and having the visuals. It calms him and makes for longer periods where he can play with his toys. :)

My DD L-O-V-E-S Yo Gabba Gabba! She actually watches it and has favorite episodes. Some other shows will hold her attention for a little while, but not like YGG. We will put Nick Jr on in the background when she's playing on the floor or in her playpen. I just bought the "Your Child Can Read" DVDs to see if she enjoys those. What have you introduced her? Does she like music? Try shows with a lot of music and colors, that seems to hold their attention - Yo Gabba Gabba, Wonder Pets, Backyardigans, Dora & Go Diego.

Alexandra will only stop playing and moving for Sesame Street and Mickey Mouse. She will not, however just sit and watch TV. We don't even have cable at home; we never watch TV. My mother keeps her during the day and has exposed her to a few shows. I am glad, though that she won't just sit and stare at the TV for long periods of time. She can, however spend 30-45 min putting her toys in and taking them out of a shoe box, LOL. So, I know that she has the attention span to watch TV if she wanted to, she just has more important things to do--thankfully :)

My daughter loves Sid the Science Kid too. She will glance at other shows on PBS; Super Why, Word World, and Between the Lions. But she really loves the Progressive and State Farm commercials.

We have an aquarium channel that plays instrumental music and it's on in the background most of the time in the playroom. When we're watching something and he's up he loves the commercials but pretty much ignores the rest. I record Sid the Science Kid and he likes that especially the singing parts. My niece (2) loves handy manny and mickey mouse club house.

My son usually watches a few shows in the morning only. He LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba, Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and Handy Manny... anything else he doesn't pay much attention to, and even when he watches those shows he's still playing around the house, not giving the tv his 100% attention.

My son loves his morning cartoons, so I let him watch Barney, Zigby, Franklin or whatever happens to be on. This is really the only time he wants to sit and watch TV \(while playing). In the afternoon, my son has sooooo much energy, that we just play and dance while we listen to music. FUN!

My daughter loves Mickey Mouse Clubhouse when my almost 3 year old watches it. She gets so excited and laughs. My son when he was young watched also and knew his abc's at 21 months old and counted to 10 thanks to Mickey Mouse and Super Why!

My lil girl had no interest in tv at all until I put the wiggles on for my 3 year old. Now she will sit and watch the wiggles for about 10 mins.

No he doesn't and I don't encourage it. My 2 year old only watched an average of maybe an hour and a half a week. They are both very active kids!!
