I have a 12 month old little boy and he won't stop biting... I look at him and firmily say no and move on to something else to try to distract him but he giggles at me and continues to do it. When I have asked other people what to do I have heard to bite them back, slap their hand or pinch their cheeks wich I find very disturbing... I am not going to cause my child pain so if anyone has any other suggestions please let me know :)

My son is a couple months older and we delt with biting only a couple of times. What worked for him was pointing a finger at him and we even used a little lemon juice after he bit, kida like the old school soap in the mouth deal but a bit nicer and probably a little more safe.

Try "time out" - sit him on a chair in a corner & tell him in a very FIRM & serious voice to stay there. Just for about a minute. Then tell him to apologize to you, when he did that, give him a hug.
Otherwise get a elastic band & flick him on the hand till he understands no is no.

my mom had that same problem with my sister and she bit her back! i know it sounds mean but if they dont know it hurts, they dont know why you get mad at them. im not saying bite him to leave marks, just enough to let him know it isnt funny or a game. or you could give him something that is acceptable to bite like a teething toy or something.
