My 5 month old has been bottle fed since 3 weeks of age. And as of 1 month ago she started teething and gradually each day I am finding it harder and harder to feed her bottles. She starts crying and wriggling away from the bottle. I don't know hat to do!!!

Thanks so much for all your advice ladies, it has all been very helpful. I'm heading out today to get her checked out by the clinic nurse and see what they think.

ah my son did this at 3 months....i switched to the soothie bottles and it helped especially when he was teething. but by 5 month my son was already eating cereal and baby food. he hates his formula and hardly drinks it so i had to make up for it somewhere.

i agree with kimberly. take the advice you want and run with it. all in all you are the mommy! run it by with your doctor if you would like and ask their opinion.

I was told to start giving my son food at 4 months... every child is different as is everyones opinion. Maybe chat with your doctor and see what he/she has to say. you should take the advice you want and run with it. Like i said everyone has their own opinion. Its your child and you know her best!!! GOOD LUCK

They also do thus when they are gassy. Cause they associate the bottle with pain. You may have to try a different bottle or even a sippy cup. Both my girls were colicky and gassy making feeding time a pain. ?But seeing she is 5 months a sippy cup may be the answer they have ones by nuby that are soft like a nipple an flow super easy. If you are still warming her bottle stop the cool milk may feel good on her gum's. Nuby also makes bottles with nipples that have bumps n them for teething if you think this is the problem

i used orajel worked for like 5 minutes but then a friend told me about teething tablets they are awesome!! and last walmart carries them. my son acted that way for awhile but id put a tablet under his tongue and hed eat. i guess the nipple was rubbing gums and it hurt. hope it helps..

Not sure exactly but have you had her ears checked lately? Most babies will cry and not want to eat when they have an ear infection. just a thought

I'm not sure about starting the food yet, I held out as close to 6 months as possible. What type of flow teet/nipple do you use? It could be either too fast or too slow for her, some babies have perferences for different types of bottles, so it might be worth trying a few different ones or maybe even a sippy cup. When my son is teething I give him something called Astons powder into his mouth, works a treat and if it's a really bad a half does of calpol.
Good luck with it, it can't be easy

Is she still cranky even when shes not eating? If she isnt I would say dont worry about it, she will definately let you know when she wants to eat. Or try baby cereal if you haven't already. Less pressure eating then sipping out of a bottle. For teething I would recommend giving her a ice cube wrapped in a wash cloth for her to chew on. It worked most of the time with my son. And if you dont have to get orajel dont, he hated it, and when i tried giving it to him at that age he screamed bloody murder. Good luck, hope you get some better ideas than mine, but thats all i can really recommend, since i never wen thru that.
