My daughter Megan is 2 years and 2 months old. She has always been rather a sleepy baby.. but recently she has got worse!...

Her eating habits are usually great and has a keen interest in fruit and veg, but this has recently changed slightly as her appetite has decreased.

Her sleeping habits also have always been great 7pm to 8pm and an occasional 45 min nap in the day. But recently in the last month she has been sleeping in, if she has the chance till 10am, consequently she is tired from the time she wakes till the time she hits the pillow.

I had spoken to the health visitor about this a year back and they put it down to growth spurts... It's happening all the time, I don't think it's growth spurts and as she is so tired it affects her personality, *Grumpy* all the time, which is no fun.

If anyone has any suggestions please let me no. Thanks.

i would suggest taken her back to the doctor. maybe her iron levels are low. i am anemic and i know when they get to low i could sleep all day long. make sure she is getting alot of greens in the mean time. maybe it wouldnt hurt for the doc to do some blood work.

I Rea! I have a 3 year old and the only thing I can think of to recommend would be to talk to her doctor. The health visitor will make suggestions but can't really do anything. Also, have you tried waking her up? Does she sleep in a really dark room where she has no concept of time? Maybe she just doesn't realize what time it is. And, if you try and wake her up maybe you can manually set her internal clock and she will get onto a better sleeping pattern. Hope this helps and good luck!

she could be low on iron. i am anemic and when my iron is low i want to sleep all day. see if the docs could run some blood work. in the mean time dark green veggies and red meat would bring them up if there low :)

I was told by my midwife that if my daughter suddenly starts sleeping a lot then she's either not getting enough food to give her energy or she's getting sick.

Her sleeping time is 7pm tp 8am, thats the time I wake her up every day but if Megan has the chance to sleep in she would until 10am. Her room isn't that dark, a warm glowing light in the mornings not at all dark.

But I think the next step is to go and consult the doctor about it, it just doesn't seem normal.

Thank you :-D
