I would have to differ with Crystal. Just because you are breastfeeding does not mean it won't come. My friend was very regular while breastfeeding. I on the other hand did not. As others said it varies. If you are estrogen high like me it won't come.

i dont know why i havent gotten mine..i had my baby 3 months ago and i still havent gotten it and i am not breast feeding..and my HPT's are negative

My midwife gave me an estimated date of ovulation, as 12 wks after my boy was born, although said I should really use birth controll of some sort unless planning another just incase I was early.

Nearly 7 months for me, I think it was due to me attempting to wean onto solids, at just after 5 months, my body had detected a drop in milk production. My mum panicked when I told her, (she also EBF) she thought something must be wrong for them to start so soon, so I had to reassure her that my little fella was still getting lots of milk.lol . Just shows how different we all are.

Quoting Crystal:

If you are breastfeeding they won't come, if you are not I think about 8 weeks.. I stopped breastfeeding about 6 weeks ago and mine are just coming tonight, lucky me!

Everyone's bodies are very different. My periods came within 8 weeks of having my daughter and I breast feed her until she was 4 months. My dr. told me that you may or may not have a period while you are breast feeding. However if you don't want to get pregnant soon then use other contraseptives because breastfeeding is not going to stop you from getting pregnant.

I got mine after my 6 week check up. The doctor said that it could take up to 8 weeks after delivery since I bottle feed.

I was one of the unlucky ones and bled for almost 7 weeks after I had my daughter...then stopped for a week & a half....then got my monthly back & it has been like clockwork ever since then! All women are different....if you're worried, I would talk to your doctor/midwife....

i got mine pretty much right away. i was a C-section and i stopped bleeding within about 2.5 weeks. then i bled for a few days at around 6 weeks and then starting at 8 wks, my period came back and it SUCKED because i was breastfeeding a little crocodile so it was hell bleeding like crazy and producing 30-40 oz of milk daily. ironically, it got less painful after having a baby, but the first 2 days it was really really heavy. and it came like clockwork every month since then. so whatever they tell you how you don't get your period if you breastfeed is not always true. if you're one of those lucky women (my friend was, she didn't get hers the whole 10m she breastfed her daughter), god bless you, enjoy it!

Well, my little one was born in may then I had mine in july. I breastfed him and I still got my period every month, exactly twenty eight days apart. I guess we are all different.

Mine was about a month later. I did not breast-feed so I believe this is why it comes the next month. I have heard as long as you breast-feed your period does not come....

most people generally start a few months after having baby. I EBF and I had my first period after 5 months. or you can go longer without one. just remember you can get pregnant without having had a period first.

[deleted account]

My last period was in Feb 2007. Yep, I haven't had a period in nearly three years. I didn't get one between pregnancies and I am still breastfeding my 4 month and two year old. Who knows when I will see mine again??

I nursed for 1 1/2 years and NEVER missed my period. Just because you are breastfeeding does not mean you won't get your period.

After I had my baby it took about a month & a half to get my first one & I have been regular for the last 4 months. It can be different with different people, all depending on your hormone bounce back and how your body recovers.

Everyone's different. I had a c-section and I'm breastfeeding. My son was born Aug 10th and I still haven't had one yet (I'm not in any rush though!). If you're worried, call your ob/gyn and ask the ?

I got my first after 3 months. But I guess breastfeeding makes a difference. I breastfed excusively till about 8 weeks and then I started to introduce a little formula.

Depends, everyone's different! My son was born June 13 and I have yet to have one! I'm breastfeeding so that's why. If you aren't then it will probable be sooner but still might not be right away.
