all babies are different. mine never slept more than 3 hours at 8 weeks old..if that. My daughter did have reflux though and slept way better if she slept with me.

Your baby is doing just fine sleeping 3.5 hours at a time. Yes some very lucky people have 8 week old that sleep longer, but most dont.

Most babies start to drop one night feed and sleep a 5 hour stretch usually between midnight and 5am at 12 weeks. By 4 months most babies are only feeding 1-2 times per night. By 6 months many babies don't feed at all at night but some continue to need 1 night feed until about 10mo.

Give your baby time. What he is doing is perfectly normal for his age. I know its hard, but things should get better soon. Stick it out.

We do end up changing a diaper halfway through the night, so ya that is a little inconvenient, but we keep the stuff to do it on our night stand. My 20 month old still pees through his diaper at night, so that is something you may have to deal with for a long time! Luckily my husband works nights, and doesn't end up going to bed until around 2, so he does a diaper change before he goes to bed most of the time.

yeah i don't plan on using formula at all, it's cheaper and healthier to breast feed... i couldn't amagine not changing his diaper throughout the night...his bed or my bed would be soaked in the morning...he pees way too much! but thanx for the advice, i'm doing most of those things already, he gets up to eat in the middle of the night and usually goes back to sleep right away, but maybe if i tricked him with a pacifier that would work i'll give it a try thank you~

Well I find brestfeeding much better for night feedings. And we co sleep. So he fusses a little, and then latches, eats, then goes back to sleep. and noone has to get up. I hardly even fully wake up anymore! It does get better as they get older!

And BTW ifyou are breastfeeding, DO NOT give your baby formula to help them sleep longer at night. you will end up loosing your supply!

i find formula fills my son up alot more than breast milk. it keeps them full for longer. and a warm bath tires them out alot. i let my 4 month old son bath..kick for a bit..eat..and to sleep he goes!!

we got my son on a schedule as soon as we could. we do bath bottle bed and if we have to get up in the night we have as little interaction as possible (i try not to even change him until morning) and ill feed him again and lay him back in bed. he takes a pacifier which is nice and in the beginning there were a few nights where we had to get up like 20 times to put it back in his mouth. he got the pattern pretty fast. now, even if he doesnt need a bath i let him play in the water and then put him to bed.
