Any tips for a baby that hates car rides? I know most babies like car rides and it can help them go to sleep, but Autumn just screams while she's in the car, even if someone's sitting next to her, no matter what they do.

My 8 month old boy does the same thing! Especially at night. I was thinking about getting a portable night light or lantern to keep by him in the car.

Try to plan the car ride for nap time. That is the only way we've been able to travel with our daughter at all. She will scream for hours if she's not tired and ready for sleep. If she's tired though, she will start off calm and then slip off to sleep. Otherwise, it's a nightmare. Good luck!

So I tried the classical music thing and it's helped a little but not much, and I have to take a 7 hour trip for Christmas! Are there any other thoughts?

Try classical music, my daughter use to do that and someone told me to try that I went out and bought this fisher price baby classical music CD from wal mart and it works instantly no.5 is her favorite, people are amazed when I put it on how fast it calms her down lol she's now 9 1/2 months and I still use it when she gets cranky in the car!!

My daughter loves car rides during the day......but at night thas a different story. Once the sun goes down she starts screaming! No matter what I do she screams, until she tires herself out and falls asleep. (usually takes about 30 mins or so) It's brutal! I feel your pain!!!

My daughter screamed untill she was three months old and still does on occasion... she's five months now. We put a lambswool cover on the car seat and put a mirror on the seat so she could look at herself. It didn't really do much but maybe it will help yours. What finally helped us was we found music that she liked.. actually a certain song would always calm her down.

I had the same problem my son would scream also he hated being in the dark when your in the car. I had my husband install a portable dvd player and that seem to help.

My son did that for a while too. As soon as we would even start to put him in the carseat he'd start screaming. Thankfully it was only a phase and by the time he was about 2 months old he stopped. We just tried to make it as fun as we could, but most days it wouldnt make a difference. Sorry. Good luck!
