My daughter is almost 7 months old and isn't showing any interest in trying to hold the bottle her self. She's eating baby food and drinking juice out of a sippy... well at least attempting but the bottle she throws her arms above her head and streaches out and enjoys. Any suggestions to motivate? I don't want to push her if she's not ready but I also want her to hit the mile stones she's suppose to.

Today she seemed interested. Thank you for your posts, all my neices and nephews held a bottle at 6 months so I wasn't sure if it was one of those things that should send up a red flag if she's not doing it yet.

We tried several (6+) bottles with handles/cups for Alfie before we found on that he felt comfortable with! But at 7 months he wouldn't even attempt to hold. The only time he really wanted his sippy cup is first thing in the morning or for his supper drink at night.

My son is also 7 months old. Does she sit up by herself? My son is breastfed, so we don't have bottles, but he has a sippy cup. If she can sit just place the bottle in front of her, she will play with it and figure it out. My son holds his sippy just fine, and that's what I do. I hope this helps!
