I'm lucky. I was back in my jeans 2 weeks after my first baby, 1 week after my second. I think my figure was helped by breastfeeding and being generally active, but mostly by genetics. I had a rule that I would take baby out every day, no matter how short a walk or what the weather. And when too tired to cook I would snack on fruit, carrots with dips, sandwiches etc. rather than junk food. I've never "dieted" but am vegetarian with a varied and mostly healthy diet (but I don't resist when I have the urge to eat a whole tub of ice cream in one sitting!). We don't have a car either, so I walk nearly everywhere and the school run is only a 10 minute walk.

My advice would be to walk that 10 or 15 minute trip to the local shop for milk or bread, eat healthily, the way you would like your child to eat, but don't knock yourself out over it - it's not a competition, and the best mum is a happy mum!

I also breastfeed and I think that is one reason why I'm back to my prepegnancy size. I also eat very healthy (and only do small amounts of "bad" things). I try to workout, do housework or something active everyday that I can. It took me 3 1/2 months to get here, but you do need to give yourself time because everyone is different.
