Hi ladies. I'm 33 weeks along this thursday.

I was in the bathtub last night and while I was bathing I had an intense pelvic/vaginal pressure/pain. At first I ignored it because I have that happen alot, but this time it kept going and going and hurt just as bad each time for about 2 minuets straight. My hubby asked if I was ok, and if I was going into labor (he's always asking that, silly hubby, lol). I highly doubt I could be going into labor, but this is my first pregnancy and I don't know very much, and I read alot about pregnancy online and on this site and in books, but I still worry about everything that happens.

The pain went away for a bit but then my abdomen area was in pain and tender all night, and continueing into today. I was just wondering if these are just normal Braxton Hicks, or if I should call my Dr.'s office. I have an appointment in 3 days but should I wait that long?? What if something wrong?

My baby is moving around find, it just hurts when he moves, so I think he's ok. But whats going on with me?? And is it possible that my water could have broken while I was bathing? Would I feel it? How would I know? Because I remained in the bathtub for about 20 min. after the pain went away. And no, the bathwater was not too hot, it was actually pretty cold, i'm very skeptical about that lol.

It could be BH. Some women also feel alot of painful pressure when their baby drops and some women don't notice the dropping at all. If your water had broke, you would still have leaking, even if minimal throughout the day possibly even with more big gushes. I know this because with my first baby, my water broke and I didn't go into labor but throughout that day, I kept leaking and probably went through about 20 pads and had 2 more big gushes that completely wet my pants all the way to the ankles and had to have a shower. They induced labor that night to ensure I didn't have a dry labor. You likely would have noticed you water breaking even if you were in the tub, I think you would have felt a temp change if not a gush. If you are having menstrual like pain in your lower abdomen and pelvic area (some women feel them in their legs too) then it is likely BH. But if they are coming in regular intervals and don't change or go away when you get up and move around, they could be contractions. Either way, ask you doctor about it and if you get the feeling that you are in labor, go to the hospital to get checked for early labor symptoms.

Just a word of advice. I never had regular or long contractions until i was in the pushing stage and even then im not sure they were too regular. If at any point you are worried you may be in labour or show any signs of leaking from your waters please call your doctor/midwife and they will probably want to have you in for obs at the hospital. It can be dangerous to leak water as the baby can get an infection. I myself had several scares with my waters and luckily everything was ok but its definately worth getting checked if you are worried. You may not have felt your waters go but id say its unlikely they have gone without you noticing. If in doubt always consult your doctor.
