I have found a wonderful person to watch my 3 months old daughter in my house while I work. I am just clueless about the going rate to compensate someone who comes and helps watch the baby while mom is still at home. I am still nursing the child so I will be taking care of feeding duties, she will just watch her during the day, hold her, change her, etc... Can anyone help me please??? In case the geographic location makes a difference with the rate I live just north of Houston ... thanks

I live in wisconsin and i pay $2 an hour but i am also not home and prices here are probably not as much as there (for job wise). Most people here would charge anywhere between $3 to $5 an hour w/out someone home, I just happened to find a good deal. For you though I would probably pay anything between 2-4 an hour due to you still being home. Here the minumum wage for an "actual" job is $7.50 for an adult and $7 for 17 and under. Maybe that can give you some-what of an idea of what to pay but i would not pay the babysitter too much due to you still being home and taking care of one of the responsibilites.
