Im 35 weeks pregnant at the moment and dont know the sex of my baby. My husband feels that he may have bonding issues if the baby is a girl. I have tried reassuring him that a baby is a baby whether girl or boy and he will bond with either sex; however i think he still feels he will be distant with a baby girl. Any advice on this issue? has anybody elses partner/husband felt the same but now have bonded well with their daughter???

My husband was really dissapointed when we had our baby girl....I didnt think her would ever accept her. Then when she was born he still had problems wouldnt hold her much and wanted to always dress her in boy color clothes...now she is four months and I ask him one day if he wanted to give her back for a boy and he was furious lol..... it just happened one out the blue he looked at her and she was wrapped around his finger it takes a while but it happens.

My husband wanted a boy....BAD! He was very nervous about having a girl and how he would handle it. The moment she came out a look came into his eyes I had NEVER seen before! He fell madly in love with her. They are perfectly bonded now 9 months later. He works nights and on the nights that he is home, she will only go to sleep for him! There is something about a baby girl that makes men feel very protective, and while he may not always understand the ways of a girl, I'm willing to bet that he will fall head over heels in love with when she's here. (If it even is a she for that matter!). I think you're both worrying over nothing, which is normal when you're expecting! Best of luck on the delivery and becoming a mommy!

Thank you leslie; im glad im not the only one facing this situation. I am one of three sisters and no brothers and my mum said your dad never had issues with a house full of girls. So it came as a suprise to me when my husband said he may have bonding issues with a girl. But ill keep your experience in mind; just need to give him time. thanks again saira x
