I am just wondering as to how old your bubs were when they learnt to sit by themselves and crawl. I know many people and books tell you that each baby is different, but I am just curious to know how my gorgeous lil boy, who is nearing 6 months, is progressing.

just remember to never compare babies. It's not a competition. Babies learn & achieve when they want to. It doesn't mean they are behind or that they can't do something, it just means that they don't want to yet. They're still working on their confidence. When the babies confidence is up to where the baby feels secure in what he/she is doing, then they will do the next step. So, don't worry if another baby does something before or behind your baby because each baby Is different & has their own pace & don't rush them, they'll come along when they're ready. Your baby is doing just fine. My youngest son was a little lazy & didn't walk until 10 mo. because he prefered to sit & giggle & today he's 17 & a very funny boy who everyone loves. Because he still prefers to make people laugh, lol.

My grandaughter Laila, who I have custody of just turned 8 months. She started rolling over around 3 mo., sitting up unsupported at 4 mo., crawlling at 5 mo. began standing at 6 mo. walking on her own at 7mo. & now she's working on climbing up on my couch (she made it once but I have to watch her closely & she's trying to run from her older brother but her upper body seems to go faster than her feet, lol. But she is now 8 months & walks unsuported all over the house & restaurants when we go out. But, her mom did the same thing as a child. Laila has two older siblings ages two & three, kids with close in age siblings usually begin walking sooner because of the example of the older siblings. The babies want to mimic everything the see. At the restaurant there was a couple with a 13 mo. old & they saw Laila walking around the restaurant they asked her age. when I told them, they acted suprised as did the couples sitting behind us, this was when Laila was 7 mo. They couldn't believe it because their 13 mo. was not walking yet. I told them the same thing. Babies mimic other siblings if they are close enough in age (toddlers). Every baby is different. Her older sister Aiyana didn't walk on her own until she was 8 1/2 to 9 months.

Thanks for all your responses ladies. I do try not to compare but I know this "mother" who always sprouts on about how great her lil boy is and how far behind my baby boy is, and it's hurtful, so of course she got me worrying... I think I will just forget her and let my lil angel move at his own pace !! :)

I have 4 kids, all done things at different ages. Keeley walked at 13 months, Vicci at 9 months, Adam (who has club feet) at 19 months & Paige at 18 months, so you see, they all learn at their own speed! Dont worry if your wee one is'nt sitting up, crawling, walking or talking when others are, they all get there in the end. Good luck. x

Go to babyzone.com and on the right side there is a place where you can sign up for weekly emails about your baby's development. My daughter sat up at 6 months and crawled at 8.

Amelia's 6months today and has been sitting up by herself for a couple of weeks now. I always make sure there are cushions around her as she sometimes topples when reaching for toys etc.

She's not crawling but can roll to get to where she wants to be and can spin round on her tummy.

All babies are different though so try not to compare!
