Does anyone find their breastfeed baby is unsettled around the time of your period?

I got my period today 13 weeks post birth. My daughter has been unsettled for the past 2 days and i am wondering if it could be due to my hormones changing. Has anyone else experienced this?

I use fenugreek in my cooking anyway (I make a lot of Indian food and fenugreek is great in dahl and curries and with spicy fried potatoes - it doesn't need to be taken as a herbal supplement). I didn't get my first period until a week before baby turned 1, and I didn't notice any difference in her behaviour, which is crazy at the moment anyway due to new childcare/teething etc.!

I didn't get my first period until my son was 10 months and even then it wasn't like it was before i got pregnant, but when it did get back to what it was (cramping, bloating, stuff like that) my son did seem a little off.

My LC said that your milk production drops for a couple days after you get your period. It could be just for this one or for every period. You might try the herbal supplement Fenugreek (always ask your dr first) to boost your milk production. It works great for me. Pumping for a few days after you feed her will help too. Good luck :)

Thanks Girls for the reassurance! My daughter was feeding every 2 hours during the morning and was fussy through the day, however was back to normal yesterday so i think it was just my hormones changing the few days before. I will keep this in mind for next month to see if she becomes unsettled again. At least i can put a reason to her behaviour :o) Thanks again!

i have heard of this to, don't be concerned it will only be for a few days and everything will return to normal, i think i heard it has something to do with hormones and perhaps even the taste of your milk (i don't know if thats true or not coz who tasted all the ovulating mommys milk to determin if it tasted different??)

I haven't had a period yet, my daughter is 5 months. But I've heard that it causes your supply to drop a little during that time so she may just be irritated because she's not getting the amount that she wants. Does she act like she wants to eat more often? If so, I would let her.
