"dropped" cervix?

I'm 39wks and 5ds and my Dr. recently told me that my cervix have dropped but that its a good thing? I have never heard of such a thing and neither has anyone that I've asked so far. Any idea?

it just means you baby is dropping down into your cervix its a very good thing ...you body is getting ready for labor

makes sense.. I'm 80% effaced and only a finger tip but my Dr. told me to do lots of walking till Monday that he thinks I have a good chance to do it on my own. Thanks Ladies!

its normal to drop thats the way of opening and also releasing the muscousplug :) good luck, hope for everything goes well ;)

I don't think i've heard that but I would say that it means that your body is getting ready for the labour. I know when not pregnant and up until the last few weeks of pregnancy they say that your cervix is very 'high' and thick and when you dialate when in labour your cervix softens, gets thinner and lower ready for you to start pushing. At nearly full term I hope that means that your bubba is going to be here soon. Good luck =0)
