My son will be 3 months August 30th. He is drinking 4 oz every 2-4 hours. Lately its been closer to every 2 hours again like when he was first born. He doesnt want to eat any more than 4 oz at a time but he wants to eat more often. It seems like formula isnt satisfying him but he is still too young for baby food. ive been told to put cereal in his bottle but im afraid it will make him constipated. i do give him 1 cereal bottle at bedtime and he sleeps 7 hours but im afraid to give him anymore than that right now because i know at this age they really arent ready for solids. any advice?

Every baby is different. Cereal is still solids and putting any solids in a bottle is a choking hazzard. You should be careful with that. It sounds like the 3month growth spurt.

4 oz isnt much. According to the formula tin I have, 2 to 4 month old should be having 180ml which is 6.5 oz that should fill him up. He could just be going through a growth spurt and wanting to feed more often.

My oldest daughter was like that. At her "last feeding" before an appropriate bed time I would give her a 6 oz bottle w/ baby food in it... about 1/2 a jar. 4 oz formula and 1/2 jar of applesauce or pears... stage one foods. she slept all thru the night after that!

my daughter was a small eater too (never took more than 5 ounces) and ate often instead. he's probly going through a growth spurt. bear with it...it should pass. talk to your doctor and see if it's ok to give him more cereal (i'm not sure in the bottle is a good idea...but your doctor would know best).

another possibility is that it's HOT (not sure where you are, but it's crazy hot here right now). try offering him water in a bottle. he may be thirsty not hungry.
