my daughter was 2 months old when she got sick... we were very lucky cause we went to one dr and they said she was fine but the next day another dr told us she had a chest infection!! she had to use a nebuliser which worked wonders on her cough and the saline drops for her nose.. we used the vaporiser of a night which was great aswell.

I use a humidifier with eucalyptus and menthol drops in my daughter's room. She's just had bronchiolitis and spent 2 days in hospital and they told me to expect the cough to linger for up to a month. I ran the humidifier all night every night for the first week or so we were home and her cough cleared up. It also provides some white noise that is extra soothing for an unwell baby.

If you are breastfeeding, do it more often, whenever he needs it. It will provide him with the extra fluids he needs as well as give him comfort when he isnt feeling well. Raise the head of his bed up to he doesnt get so stuffed up in the night. Get some saline drops from the chemist and administer when he seems particularly stuffed up especially before bed and feeding. Give him pamol or whatever is suitable for pain relief, especially at night. He may have a sore throat and feel grotty more at night and may wake more often. Keep him inside and warm unless you live in a really warm area. Give lots of cuddles to make him feel better. Coughs are hard to deal with. I think the best thing is to not give them cough medicine during the day, unless they are coughing so much they vomit etc, so their lungs can expell the mucous themselves. Our doctor prescribed Pholcodeine which worked really well, stopped the coughing during the night as our son was waking himself up every 20 minutes coughing.

Ahhh...could just be allergic to your formula. Why not try another for a week and see if it makes the difference? Similac organic is made without lactose and there are rice or soy formula's out there too.

Is it breastmilk, formula or milk? There can be an increased mucus production with some formula's or milk...even breast milk too. That can cause colds and drainage which would explain cough. If the spit-up has mucus in it then its the body getting it out as well. If you vaccinate it could also be the body's reaction to the shot, some baby's get sick...even when they say they won't. But that is a whole other subject. But I know in the US, they have a host of shots each month. It could also be the odd runny nose and acid reflux. The cough because acid rising up in the chest, and the spitting up from the overacid production mixing with mucus. If the spit up is shooting really far that is a big indicator but not always a given. My daughter had a hiatal hernia, which can be common in babies with acid reflux. Its where the section of stomach overlaps the esophagus. You can check this by facing your baby and rubbing just below the middle to lower the ribcage on your right (so it will be the baby's left). It'll feel like a little bump...rub down and you'll feel it go away. It should help with the spit up and acid reflux right away, and can reoccur but they'll grow out of that.

**And something else that works holistically, give the baby a little bit of diluted lemon juice. The lemon will cut the mucus production.

im australia we just give panadol. and if he has a stuffy nose you can use a saline solution and a dropper to clear his nose or take him into the bathroom after a hto shower and the steam helps

homeopathic meds for children! go to shoppers drug mart or a natural health store and they will be able to help you. i used one for my son that came pre-measured that you just have to squirt in their mouths :) worked wonders...i also have used (the same brand, different types) for colic and teething

When my daughter was sick with a cold, I washed all the bedding and toys everyday. I also used the vaporizer, and let her take as many naps as she would take. I also gave her warm baths and warm bottles. I hate it when they're sick. Good Luck!
