After 5 months, i finished the giant Dreft container we bought so i started using regular Tide cold water for my son's clothes with some Oxyclean. I do wash his clothes separately, but not for dirtiness reasons, but to keep them all together. i usually don't dry them in the dryer (so that they don't shrink), so it just makes it easier to sort them afterwards. if your baby has no allergies, there's no reason to spend extra money on detergents, you can wash it all together. alternatively, buy the unscented detergent & use that. again if no skin problems, i do recommend to use a bit of softner during rinse because it neutralizes detergent. hope this helps, good luck!

p.s. you can wash all kids colors in hot water just be careful with reds, some of them bleed (disney & carter's reds wash with no problems) and phat farm/baby phat jeans do run so you might want to wash those with your blacks rather than the rest of the clothes.

I still wash my daughter's clothes separately. My husband smokes occasionally and he works in the garage and on cars. Plus, my daughter dirties enough to have her own load once or twice a week. I use Purex free and clear or all free and clear on all the laundry. It's cheaper than the stuff labeled for babies and it doesn't have perfumes or dyes that can irritate the skin. We also do an extra rinse on my daughter's stuff because she chews on it.

If your child has sensitive skin, and you don't want to pay for baby detergent, you can use a perfume-free version of a regular detergent (All Free and Clear, or something like that), and run an extra rinse cycle.

As long as your baby isn't sensitive to regular detergent (like, doesn't break out with rashes or something) then you don't need to!

I use an all natural detergent called MelaPower so I wash my babies clothes with the rest of the laundry.

Quoting Sarah:

I never washed baby clothes in a special kind of detergent. I just used the same detergent that I was using for hubby and I. I never had any problems and found it silly to do so many loads of laundry when I could just put them all together.
