How soon after delivery did your period return?

I'm curious because I thought I was healing great (brownish blood) and then I began to flow heavier and brighter (bright red)...my doctor cleared me for exercise the previous day and I think I may have started my cycle again. I'm not breastfeeding (my milk didn't come in quick enough for him, he had issues latching on, and my steady nipple was inverted...hmph), and I'm just curious if this has happened to anyone else. He's a little over 1 month old. Is it too soon?

No not too soon. The same exact thing happened to me. Your bleeding from the delivery stops and your period begins... Sucks huh..

My first weaned at 6 months and my period returned at 7 months. I'm still nursing Mia who is 15 months. My period came back a week after she turned 1.

Not sure... I am breastfeeding and my son is almost 17weeks- I still don't have a period. I am loving it! I think if you are not breast feeding it is pretty normal for it to start up straight away.

I had the c-section from Hell with my first child so this may not be average but I didn't get my period until 8 months pp, that's without bf. My second child was born at home 17 months later VBAC & my period came back about 4 months pp. I bf'd him until he weaned himself at 8 months. :)

I bled steadily for a month after my son was born. I am nursing him. At about 3 months after I bled again a little bit for a couple days. At 5 and a half months after his birth i'm now on a steady cycle again. Unfortunately .. lol.

I bled for about 6 weeks after birth, I had about a week off then my period started. I too was healing fine after about 4 weeks, then I started bleeding heavily again. I had just tried to do too much too early!

Even with BF, mine returned with a vengeance when my son was nine months old. I miss my light, quick periods! Also, I am not taking birth control.

oh I'm so sorry you didn't get a chance to bf =(. . but at least you gave it a try =). .anyways, mine were really messed up after I had my daughter in 2005, I was on the shot after her and it totally messed me up. . but after my son in 2007 mine didn't come in until well after a year (I was bf him though). . .and then they were constantly different, like 3 months with no period, then two months with two periods then 4 without then 3 regular. . it was a mess, then only one month of the pill and my periods were back to normal, it was sooo weird that it was so quick to being regulated, I'm ont on the pill anymore (bc's freak me out)

so anyways. . it does seem early to me, but I read on a few websites and it said it was normal, so I don't know, if gets any heavier, or if you start getting big clots then go to the doc. . .

I do however like having periods, I know strange, but that usually means your not pregnant lol

after i had stopped bleeding i had a very small bleed again and the doctor said that is normal its not a period its just a clean out. id say that is what it is. if it keeps up heavy for more than a week i would have a chat to the midwife or doc, it may be there is some placenta still retained (which can cause BF issues to)

good luck and have fun with your new bundle of joy

I stoped nursing my youngest when he was a month and a half old and didnt get my period back for 2 months after that. I would bet that you just did too much. Call your Dr and see what he says!
