hey all, I wanna make it clear that he does actually want to quit but is having problems seein it through... whenver i ask him about it... he says its not that easy, you dont understand. I am a non-smoker- so yeah i dont understand- but i know its not easy... I want to know how to successsfully help him do this... because my baby and I will really benefit from it, not to mention his own health too... any suggestions? has anyone tried any popular stop-smoking aids with success?

My boyfriend usually smokes at night when he is trying to relax. So, what he is does is he parks his car down the street and leaves his cigarettes and lighter in the car. He gets too lazy to keep walking down the street to smoke. He's down to about 3 cigarettes a day now. lol

Well I hope he doesnt smoke in the house, if he does that is the first step to quitting. No smoking in the house or the car (in ontario its illegal to smoke in any car that holds a carseat). I am a smoker, so I understand how hard it is to quit. Pushing him, nagging him are not going to help him quit. Like Karen said he can get many different kinds of prescriptions to quit smoking with, but they will only work if he really wants to quit, otherwise once he is weened from the prescription he will return to smoking.

As for RSV caused by smoking, good god LOL! RSV is a virus caused by humans spreading it through coughing and sneezing, on avg everyone contracts RSV at least once yearly (including adults), only it stays as a comman cold in those who are healthy, premmies and child with heart or lung conditions end up with RSV, or in my nephews cause he had a massive ear infection that lowered his immune system.

Well, I can tell you that if he does smoke in the house it can cause the baby to have upper respiratory problems...and my 8 month old was in the NICU for 17 days at a month old b/c he has RSV and they told me not to let anyone that smokes hold him not even if they wash their hands b/c the smoke is still on the clothes and could cause him to catch it again...This might make him think twice about smoking, but it true. Hope it helps you out.

my husband used the champix pills to stop smoking, and I know quite a few people who used this and it worked. Just have him go to his doctor the get the prescription. But remember, he needs to do this, someone bugging him to quit will not help, but yes it will definitely be better for the family
