is nose flaring normal for a newborn?

my son is 2 weeks old. he flares his nose all the time and breathes through his mouth. is this normal for babies to be doing?should i be worried? his daddy has asthma, is this a sign that my son does too?

My son did that too, do check with your doctor, but for us, it was just the weather getting colder and there was more mucus in his little nose. The reason i wasn't worried was because when he was sleeping his breathing was totally quiet. I just checked in at my appointment.

I think you should call his pediatrician. I have read that nasal flaring can be a sign that baby is having trouble breathing. It may not mean that in your case, but it's worth a call just to be sure.
