...cry to sleep? If that's your question I would say let them learn to settle as you already do... but I wouldn't let them cry for more than 1/2 hour tops. Each child is different my eldest child would cry for 30 min and on the dot would fall straight to sleep...our second child we could only let cry for 15min..after that she would start to loose the plot!...our third child is just a breeze!!! he may cry for 10 - 15 min. Also if you try putting them to bed before they get too tired or over tired might help.

Let them...what? Cry themselves to sleep? Never....

Who am I to presume what is going through my daughter's head? I do believe that as humans we have many more needs than a dry bum and a full stomach. Close physical contact with loved ones is one of them.

I know that I myself sometimes have trouble sleeping. Because something is bothering me, something I am excited about, you name it. I try to go with the flow, and stay close to my little ones.

I know that in the grand scheme of things my daughter falling asleep according to my whims is not that important. That I will never regret cuddling her in the wee hours of the night. It's such a short time.

Be careful with this one ... make sure his not still hungry. My little girl use to go down so easily at night and then all of a sudden would take be up to 2 hours to get her to stay down ... because I was / am solely breastfeeding I automatically ussumed she wasn't hungry. But then I started giving her bottles of expressed milk that I started stocking and she would gulp the bottle down ... so even though she was still getting breastmilk she wasn't getting enough from me as my supply was actually running low. Since then she has been going down a lot easier and stays down ... so rather rule out hunger before you start doing anything else ...
