Hello,
I'm a mom of 5 and grandmother as well as a great grandmother. I'm working on a novel and could use some insight from moms of preemies born at around 3 to 4 pounds. I've cared for babies these sizes and smaller in the hospital setting but not in a home setting. I've found some info on line but what I'd really like is info from a parents point of view. I'm not going to quote or anything like that, I'm only trying to get a sense of the experience for my characters in the story (mother and the baby when grown). ANY insight someone would be willing to share would be so greatly appreciated. Here is what I'm looking for:

1. How long were you advised to keep your baby away from other children and strangers?
How did you accomplish that?
Did you have another child at home at that time? How did you handle that?
2. At what age did your little one walk? Talk? Sit up? Get their first teeth?
3. What weight and age was your baby when you brought him/her home?
How much formula were they on? What kind of schedule? How were you instructed to increase the amount of formula? When did you start cereal, etc?
4. How often did baby need to see the Dr.? What vaccinations were given in the hospital?
And then, when during the first year?
5.How old is your child now and is there any residual problems connected with the prematurity?
6. What were your greatest fears? Joys? Biggest adjustments?

Please feel free to answer only what you are comfortable with and you can ask me any questions you'd like as well. If you have an experience you think would be helpful but I didn't think to ask, I would love it if you'd like to share. If you'd prefer to email me personally, please put "preemie" in the subject line and my email is: .

Thank you so much in advance!
