My 3 month old doesn't want anyone but mommy and daddy to hold her

Has anyone's baby gone through this phase? My friend tried to hold her at lunch today and she looked at her, stuck her lower lip out and cried so loud and long we had to leave the restaurant. This is the 3rd time this has happened. I thought I read on here about another mother having this issue, but I can't find the post. Has this happened to anyone else? Is it just a phase?

Thanks mommys.

Just keep holding her! Little ones can become anxious around new people. I held both of my kids constantly when they were first born. They need to feel secure. This is when they learn that they can count on you to be there for them all the time. It is critical that you do not just make them suck it up, or it will just get worse over time. As your baby gets older, and more mobile, she'll start moving away from you on her own. Just make sure that you socialize with other people,in different places, often. Get her used to being arond new people and she won't be so nervous. Again though, she'll outgrow it. Too fast. One day you'll be at a family gathering wishing that you could be the one holding her because she'll be going around to everyone else!

I have had this same problem with my little girl. She will be nearly 4 months and everytime my grandmother holds her, she screams hysterically. I think it is just a security thing as well.

I agree - we spend most of our time holding and cuddling her. How can you spoil a child with love?? :-)

Our daughter is 12 1/2 weeks and we also have this going on. We went to Grandmas this weekend and she did NOT want to let anyone else hold her and if they did as soon as she saw me or Daddy she cried. I believe maybe it is because we are her comfort zone. My mother said maybe she was a little spoiled or held to much but is there such a thing at 12 weeks old? I don't think so, I think it instills security personally. Everyone thought I needed a rest but I don't mind holding/wearing her most of the day right now. She will be a big girl soon enough :)
