Kids aim for a response. He is testing you to see how you respond. I know that it is tough listening to him cry, but the best thing you can do is leave him in there till he stops crying. If you want him to stay in his room he has to learn that crying is not a way to get out of going to bed or a nap.

Yes he's almost walking and he has very good routine which a stick to very well, but he just doesn't give up easily and I don't want him to suffer :'(....I don't know if i 'm doing the right thing by letting him cry it out every time,he cries for half hour straight, sometimes even more and if i go in to comfort him it gets worse. I'm desperate :/

My son went through the same thing. It is really frustrating. His started after he was a year old. He wouldn't sleep in his room for nothing. I had to put a playpen in my room and I let him sleep there. One day while I was putting the clothes up in his closet, he started saying "scary, scary man' I had no idea what he was talking about till I looked up and saw that he was talking about this ceramic cowboy that had been there since we had moved there. I removed the ceramic cowboy and like magic, he started sleeping in his own room again.

My son is 10 mons. old and sometimes I have the same problem... Is your son starting to develop- crawling, walking, talking, teething, standing alone?? That might be why- he wwants to practice and finds he can only do it in his crib which he gets bored with... Another thing- do you have a set daily routine for eating, napping, bedtime, playtime, ect?? That may also help...
