It could be that she isn't full or that she ate too long before she went to sleep. For example, if she goes to sleep at 10 but she ate at 8. my 5 month old son does that sometimes and he would wake up in the middle of the night to eat, but generally he sleeps through the night.

It could also be that she is feeling hot. I noticed that recently with my son as well...the last few nights he has been waking up 2 or 3 times for no reason. I then realised that he was not getting ebough breeze from the fan (we live in the caribbean so it is always warm here).

If it is neither one of those, it could be that she is just not ready to sleep through the night, but if she wakes up to play, do not play with her. She might get the impression that it is ok to play at that hour and that could prevent her from going back to sleep. Let her play by herself and she should get tired and fall asleep.

Good luck

my son is almost 5 months he does the same thing i put him down around 8 or 9 and he wakes up at 1 and 6 i breastfeed and the doc said he should be fine to sleep through the night at this age but it's a military doc so i try giving him a pacifier and if he doesn't take that i feed him. and some times he wants to play so if he does i just let him lay their awake and i go to bed no sence in me standing next to the crib watching him so i lay in bed and listen and he goes back to bed soon after i leave him because he is board. I havn't started rice yet but when he is 5 months i'm going to try that.

It's very common! Babies tummies are tiny. A lot of people will tell you that solids or more formula (or starting formula if you breastfeed) will make your child sleep. That is not always so. When my baby got formula, she didn't sleep any longer than when on breast milk. How does she sleep during the day?

Is she eating enough before bed? does she seem full? if not trying giving her some cereal and see how that goes. But alot of babies don't sleep through till their a year or so.
