My daughter who used to be a good eater is now refusing to take any milk--not off me, not in a bottle, not is a sippy cup. Her nose is a bit stuffy, but she is still drinking water. What is going on?

She's eating a little more now. We have to wait until Tuesday when our insurance swithces over to do much. At least she's eating her cottage cheese curds and yogurt. There are no white spots; I checked because I wondered about thrush as well.

You can try in the meantime buying some infants tylenol concentrated drops and putting them in the water she drinks...this will help her with pain....dont give her much water ...maybe an ounce with the drops in it, and then try giving her milk about half hour later when it has had time to have some effect on her pain.. these wont harm her either if i am wrong...

It may be thrush....look for white spots inside her mouth(especially on the inside of her cheeks)....when these spots come off they have redness under them....if this is the case it hurts her to drink...milk is thicker than water and therefore harder to drink, but because she is so dehydrated she will still drink water. Thrush can be treated by a weeks worth of prescription meds....If there is no white spots it may not be thrush but probably still hurts her to drink....i would make a doctors appointment in any case because she needs the nutrients in the milk she is not drinking... poor baby i hope her mouth gets better soon :)

She's 9 months old. We noticed a strange redness on the roof of her mouth. I am wondering if she hurt it. I have been able to get her to take a little off me, but she's still not wanting much.

Thats weird...how old is she??? i wonder if you have changed your eating habits lately that might be the cause....or maybe it is because she is sick....I would call a 24 hour nurse line and see what they say
