i want my childs father taken off his birth certificate, the father is his biological father, but we are no longer together, as he has been in and out of prison for the 2 years we've been together, ive had enough and want to protect my son from that style of life, is this possible without having the father informed?

I believe the only way you can have the father that's listed removed is by contradicting paternity test. But I am not 100% sure. You should be able to call a lawyer in your area and have a free phone consultation, they would know the laws much better.

Having sex with someone whos been in and out of prison isnt a mistake, the mistake i made was thinking he'd change once we found out i was pregnant and anyway hes gone for good now so there's no problem

Of course its not possible. Unless he is willing to sign away his rights there is nothing you can do. I'm sorry you really aren't going to like what I have to say next but you should have thought about this before you made the choice to have sex with him.
