Today was a not so good day with my 15 week old 'Mr.Catnap' refusing to nap and being super grumpy and over tired. We are on Day 4 of 'Save our Sleep' teaching your baby to self settle routine and the first few days were great......

Any success stories out there from parents who have taught their baby's to self settle and now have successful daytime naps?

It defintely helps when you hear positive feedback from other parents when your baby is having a bit of a scream! It gives you strength to continue and tough it out:)

I havent heard of SOS but I read a book called babybliss, its by an aussie midwife Jo Ryan and she is wonderful. I started it at 7 weeks and had my son sleeping through the night 8-12 hours a night within 3 days and he has done since (he is 4 months now) however he is at the catnapping stage now and the self settling doesnt work as well during the day and mostly will sleep 3-4 45min sleeps during the day but still sleeps 10-12 hours at night no I dont complain. They grow out of the catnapping, so just keep persisting it will get easier!

I started teaching my daughter to self sooth about 3 or 4 months. She got it down pretty fast. Now she is 9 months old, goes to sleep when i lay her in her crib at night and wakes up and plays with the toys in her crib for about an hour. It gives me enough time to shower and pick up real quick. When she is dont playing with her toys and wants me she lets me know. Im a lucky mom tho. Not all babies will wake up and play with toys. Keep it up. soon you will have a working schedule down and it wil be easier to put him/her down for naps and bed time. Hope this helps. :)

Even with naps my son is exhausted by 5ish and starts to fall asleep around 6:30. Tonight was in bed by 6:40.........might have to adjust his bedtime so it is a bit earlier?

Hi Jennifer,

I use the SOS with my 14 week old and she is great through the day with the 9am and 1pm sleeps going off in about 10 minutes after a little arguement, but I am now having the 7pm issues where she won't settle.

We just have to hang in there and be tough to the whinging

Hi honey, i started SOS with my son at 6 weeks old. Within a couple nights he SS pretty well straight away and/or with a few minutes grizzling. I cant remember how long it took but he was sleeping 3 good naps a day and slept thru the night at 3mths. Good luck with it. It seems pretty strict but the babies do love routine x
