My 9 month old freaks out when I run the blow dryer or the blender. I am not sure if it is a frequency thing or what. Maybe he has a problem with his hearing? Or he is just being sensitive to noise? Does anyone else have this problem?

My son, now almost 5, was the same way. He would even cry at the sound of any high pitched toy or music box! It can be hard on mom and I had to avoid having those things around him. He did mostly grow out of it though. Some things still bother him but that seems to have been because he can hear better now, had tubes put in his ears a year ago. And even with my 11 month old girl I have to use the blender out in the garage so that it doesn't scare her. So I'd say it mostly normal but also with my son was an added senstivity to high pitched sounds.

My mother said my little sister was like that. She would be scared of the washing machine, blender, vacuum and even hated going to the beach because of the sound of the waves. She grew out of it when she was a toddler. I don't think it has anything to do with a hearing problem.
