Starting solids

I know that it's recommended to exclusively breastfeed until my baby is 6 months, but my little girl TOTALLY wants to eat solid foods... she watches my husband and I eat like a hawk and sometimes even fusses while we're eating, even after I've nursed her. Today I held an apple I was eating in front of her so she could look at the color and she leaned forward toward it with her mouth open and her tongue reaching for it... cute, yes, but she can't have it yet. Has anyone else started their baby on solids? Should I try following her cues of readiness for food or should I stick to the plan of waiting til her 6 month birthday?

She's 4.5 months old.... haha part of me really wants to try giving her cereal and part of me doesn't because I don't want her to be big enough to eat cereal yet! I just want her to stay little and never grow up :-)

I think your little girl is ready! I started my daughter on rice cereal at 4 months and still breastfeed her. Now she is starting to eat table food and she is 10 months and still breastfeeding. Good luck!

I gave my son baby food at 3 months. they say to wait but if your baby is ready just try it. If it does not work wait until your baby is ready for baby food.

How old is she now? But if you think she is ready you should try. Start with the rice ceral and see how she does. I started giving it to my little girl at 3 months. It was messy but she loved it.
