I have a daughter who will be turning 1 in August and im due to have my second daughter 9 days later,i am thinking of putting my nearly one year old in child care for 2 half days,so i can have a little rest and also for my daughter so she doesnt get too attached and gets used to being with other babies and away from home, for when i eventually return to work, can i have peoples opinions and thoughts on this?like are childcare centres good for kids? ive always been a bit worried about my child going to one.

I think just like anything there are good things and bad things about centers. You can find both good and bad centers. Do your research. Talk to parents that use the center, drop-in unannonced, ask a TON of questions, and go with your gut (sometimes that tells you more than anything). There are also good and bad things about having kids in a daycare center. They learn to share, socialize, make friends, and just learn (speaking, potty training, alphabet, numbers, etc.) from the other kids. But along with that they learn bad behaviors too (hitting, bitting, teasing, etc.), it is less one-on-one, and there are more exposure to germs/diseases. One thing I would suggest is not starting your daughter in daycare right after baby comes. This could lead to issues of jealousy, resentment, etc. since baby gets to stay home with mom, but she does not. Either start before the baby comes or after when you will start the baby or when everyone has had time to adjust (2-3 mos. after the birth).

I think the jury's out on whether childcare centres are good for kids or not. Some kids love it and others don't. There are lots of advantages of sending your child to one but also disadvantages. If you are concerned about sending your daughter to one, maybe investigate having a friend or elderly couple look after her for a couple of days a week. She will get one-on-one attention and it's great for her to learn from older people and form close attachments to one or two people.

I know of an awesome wellness company that focuses on all natural ingredients for the house and personal care products, the same kind that we are already purchasing at the grocery stores but they are much safer, much better, and much healthier. Many products out there (from baby shampoos, to lotions, to dish washing soap, to detergent for laundry, etc.) have so many toxic ingredients that cause mild to serious health problems short term and long term. I have found a great company and I am proud to also be working for them as well and even better I get to work for them from home. Many people have joined our team, mostly moms who want to stay home after having their children and are very successful. If you want some more information contact (Debra Mendoza, NewWellness4you.com and livetotalwellness.com/damendoza)
