I need help! I'm trying to transition my 12 month old from a bottle to a sippy cup. I've been giving him half formula and half regular cows milk and I think that I could NOW stop giving him the formula. However he wont drink cold milk, so I've been warming it up, in the bottle.

He LOVES his bottles so I was wondering if any of you had any advice on how to do this gently?

I actually just got a nuby bottle for my son who is 5 months old. At first I thought it was a regular nipple but as I pulled it out of it's plastic wrapping I noticed that actually it was a nipple that had a sippy cup like opening. Maybe try something like that at first. Then I'd switch to the sippy cups with the harder rubber part which they drink from. And last I'd switch right to a regular sippy cup!

If you want to get straight to the point maybe have a bottle give away. Make up something like his favorite character needs bottles and you are giving them away to that character. Toss them from here and hope he takes to the sippy cup. Is that too far advanced for a one year old?? I have no idea, but I've seen this somewhere and it worked. Good luck!

Sounds GOOD Jan! I knew I wasn't the only one out there!
I know that people have said that a 1 year old only needs 3 cups of milk a day, and the rest of their intake should be from actual food. I know that the bottle wont be the only obstacle that we will have to over come! :)

I'm in the same boat, only with two 12 month olds. Mine take a morning, afternoon and evening bottle and the rest of the time they drink, it is from a sippy (juice, water, and I try to sneak milk in there). They just don't seem to take much from the sippy though. I figure with time it will work itself out, as everything else has. Good luck! I'll be checking your post to see what other seasoned moms have to offer :)
