My son will be a month old on Wednesday and I want to start doing research regarding vaccinations. Any advice, suggestions, thoughts, help would be greatly appreciated.

First, your children don't need vaccines to attend school, there are exemption forms you can get. My children attend a public school and a government funded daycare and none of them immunized. Second, good for you for not walking into this blindly. I think all parents should research and come to a place where they are comfortable. I think as long as you get as much solid info as possible from both sides and weigh the pros and cons of each you'll make the right decision for your family.

Your doctor's office should have some info on each vaccine and its side effects etc. Also I found a lot of info in "What to Expect The First Year." I think there is a book all about vaccines. Check on Amazon.

Once the swine flu vaccine comes out I'm not going to automatically have it given to my son. There's no telling what the effects (long and short term) are. I'm going to ask the pediatrician and the nurses if they're getting their kids immunized.

Most of the vaccines he will get are required for him to be able to attend school. It is tough the first time they get their vaccinations but it gets a little easier every time. It helps if you have someone come with you, and you can give them tyenol about half an hour before the doctors visit.
