I heard so many negative stories on it, it is kinda scary... has anyone been on YAZ and actually had a positive/normal experience with it? thanks!

I am a RN who has worked in an office that prescribed Yaz, and has had personal experience with the medication.

Yaz is a type of birth control pill that is lower in estrogen than many of the other birth control pills out there. Therefore it has less side effects than some of the other pills out there in terms of weight gain, mood changes, etc. It actually has been found to help with mood and mild to moderate acne. It is a good one to start with if you are not currently on the pill form of birth control. If you are switching from a birth control with higher estrogen, it can sometimes cause problems. I know I had mood swings from the change of Yasmin to Yaz (higher to lower estrogen). Hope this helps.

Thanks, Nikki. I've heard a lot of people complaininig about weight gain, cramping and spotting. Of course, everybody is different, so maybe I should just try it and see what it does for me.

Quoting Pamela:

My doctor put me on Yaz after my baby. I do not have any negative comments. He recently changed me to Yasmine the generic form of Yaz because my periods were a little heavy. The doctor said that the hormones in Yaz probably were not strong enough for me. Otherwise no complaints.

Thanks Pamela!

Quoting Lynlee:

What's YAZ?

YAZ (drospirenone & ethynil estradiol) - BC pills, supposedly helping with PMS symptoms and heavy periods. My doctor recommended, and I went online and checked for some feedback and was astonished to find out that about 99% of women were so UNHAPPY (to say the least) with it, so I got scared and did not start mine yet, but wanted to see if anybody actually had taken it but did not have a major side effects, etc. etc.
