I am on the pill. I was on it for a few years before I fell pregnant with my daughter. I know it works great for me cause as soon as I went off it I fell pregnant straight away (planned pregnancy) now a year later I am on it and no signs of pregnancy. I like the fact that I get to pick when I get my period or not, I have no side effects and when we want to try for another one i can go straight off it comfortably.

The best birth control....not having sex lol. Nothing is 100%. After you have had a baby you are super super fertile so i guess making sure that on top of any pill etc that you use you should make sure there is a condom there too. I do know of friends who whilst on contraception following a pregnancy still conceived.

Quoting Amanda:

i just got ortho tri-cyclin but i havn't taken it yet .. anyone hear anything about that being a good one ?? ... i'm not a big one for taking pills so i'm not sure how this is gonna be .. but my friends had the mirena and it grew into her skin internally and she had to have surgery with a chance of never having kids again

I was on tri-cyclin for a long time after being on cyclin, I can't remember though why she switched it, that was a few years ago.

My dr put me on Yaz now, theres only 4 days without and she said its known to have the fewest side effects and best at preventing cysts, which I've always had problems with.

Well if your breastfeeding you should talk to your doctor about what is the best method. I have the Mirena and love it and don't even have a period either best part of it.

Implanon, it works for me and is cheap and you don't have to remember to take it. I had it put in at the hospital when she was two days old.

Implanin, You have it in for three years, everyone is different on how it works and that goes for every birth control you try.

Mirena is great, it works really good and doesn't abort a fertilized egg if a egg was to get fertilized, which the chances are like the pill. It works for up to 5 years but your period might be off for the first 6 months, then should mellow out. If not, talk to your doctor.

Abstinence! Ha ha! I actually can't answer that one. I don't like any options at all. I don't want anything that messes with your hormones, natural methods (rhythm method etc) aren't completely safe methods (I should know that's how baby no. 2 arrived!) and my husband and I aren't too happy about using any barrier methods. So for now I am sticking with natural methods, crossing my fingers and hoping baby no. 3 will wait a little while longer before entering our world. I guess if baby no. 3 was already here and I was looking at having baby no. 4 I would have to take this decision way more seriously!!

I have the paraguard. I have not had any problems with it. It is the IUD without hormones. You can use it up to 10 years. I like it because I do not have to take pills. I have heard that some people have had problems with it but as for me I have done fine with it.
