When can i start my 4 month old son on Stage 1 baby food? He's eating baby cereal already and has been for about a month now. It just seems like it's not enough.

Interesting... My kid's pediatrician told us not to start baby cereal until at least 5 months. She actually said 6 months, but because my son was in the 3% for weight she let him start at 5 months. As for real baby food, we waited until he was about 6.5 months old. I guess it depends on the doctor and child.

I started my daughter at 4 1/2 months on the cereal and started adding jarred stage 1 at 5 months because she was so hungry and was showing signs of wanting the food off my plate. My doc said that if she was showing that she wanted the food and was able to sit up on her own we could go ahead and start. She took to it right away.

I started my girls on Stage 1 at 5 months and they had no problems. You might want to look into making your own baby food too. It is very easy and my middle daughter refused to eat regular baby food after 7 months because the taste of homemade was so much better.

my dr told me 4 months to start on jar food but i started my son about 2 1/2 to 3 months because he always acted like he was still hungry after drinking 8oz of formula. i was worried that he would become a BIG boy but he really isnt.

Babies generally shouldn't start solids until about 5.5/6 mths but I would speak to your doctor and get his advice to be sure you do what's best for YOUR baby. Not all babies grow at the same rate so ask someone who should know about his habits. Hope this helps.
