When did you switch from plastic spoon to metal tea spoon?

My baby is one year old and I find the commercial plastic spoon a bit small. I am thinking of giving thim the normal tea metal spoon , but that is probably not very good if he sometimes bites it. When did you change from the baby plastic spoon to the normal teaspoon?

Since my daughter started on solids at nine months I've been giving her a regular spoon like the rest of the family uses. She knows what to do with it, and can use it with a decent amount of skill. She's 10 1/2 months old now. But then again, I've never shoveled her food at her, she's always been in charge of the use of the spoon.

I planned to get plastic spoons for our son when he started solids but never got around to it so he has always used a metal spoon and had no problems with them.

I started at 7 months or so just for practicality. He bit it only at first because it was different. Metal ones are so much better for scraping the food off their mouths and easier (IMO) for the baby to use when they start feeding themselves because the plastic spoons repel water and don't hold wet food nearly as well.

I think they recommend a plastic spoon for babies who don't have teeth, just so they don't cut their gums on a metal spoon. You can get larger toddler spoons that are metal coated in rubber if you're worried about that, but if he has teeth metal will be fine! Just don't let him chew on it too much or it will damage his teeth.
