I have a 6 month old daughter and i have been told by some people that she is now ready to start drinking juices and such....and she is very determined to drink the water that is in my cup when i am drinking it around her...so should i start trying to give her liquids in like a sippy cup and ween her off the bottle now before she gets to attached or should i wait a little longer...

With both my kids I started giving them sippy cups around 5 mo. At first they would just play with it and I would tip it up to show them how it worked and before we knew it they were sippy cup pros. I have never or will never put anything other than formula in their bottles. All othe liquids are in sippies. My daughter now 11 mo. is being weaned off of bottle right now. We are down to 2 a day (morn. and night) and by her birthday we hope to be rid of them comletely and on to regular milk in a sippy cup.

the wic office says that you shoudl introduce juiceina sippy cup and not the bottle ever. soat 6 months u can start a soft tip sippy with juice but i keept a bottle till about 11 to 12 months with the 2 of my children that have taken a bottle nd in ther e1st birthday they were all taken away and not allowed to have anymore.

My 6 month old loves to practice drinking out of my glass of water. I'm still breast feeding but I know she likes to feel like a big girl!

My son is 6 months and we were told to start introducing him to a sippy cup now. It is suppose to be easier for them to learn now. He seems to really like it. It the next couple of months we will start giving him a cup instead of a bottle to hopfully have him off bottle by 1. If you think that she is ready I would go for it. We are only giving him water now, we probably won't give juice until after 1 year.

Our pediatrician told us that we should have a goal of by 15 months our daughter's drinking from sippy cups. She's 13 months and doing alright :) I wouldn't worry about it at 6 months but whatever you think she's ready for - go for it! All the best to you!
