Hi Ladies...

I had my 20 week scan the other day and it's a GIRL!!! But they said the baby is measuring larger (15 ounces) and they want me to do the glucose test asap. I'm worried that I may have to have a c-section and health problems for me and the baby. Also, it looks like I have a partial placenta previa.
My first pregnancy was sooo easy. I had NO complications at all and now I feel like anything could go wrong. I think I took for granted how easy my first was.

My first was born at 10lb 7oz (with no problems detected during the pregnancy), and so now i've been placed under the 'complicated pregnancy' list instead of being normal, and i am booked in for a glucose test thingie when i'm about 25 weeks. I wouldn't worry about it too much, and don't go by the scans too much either, (I had a scan with Kody at 38 weeks and they told me he was going to be 7 and a half pounds)!! Only 4 pounds out then ey?!!! Big babies run in my family so i'm not concerened just yet, I have to see a consultant at about 28 weeks, and i'll be telling him that i had no problem delivering a whopper naturally, and so i'll have no problem doing it again! Saying that i was a big baby, and my younger sister was 3 pounds lighter, so it doesn't necessarily mean that just because a previous baby was big then any subsequent babies will be the same! Just keep your fingers crossed for when you'll know for definate what will be happening with you, one way or the other you'll be meeting your baby girl in August, and it doesnt' really matter what it takes to get to that point! Good luck! x

My baby at twenty weeks is measuring at 14 oz and i do have gestational diabetes . I have to see a specialist. She said that is a great size and that they baby was doing well. Not everyone has small babies. Try not to worry i am sure that everything is fine. my girls measured that was at twenty weeks as well and they were 6 pounds 13 oz and 6 pounds 3 oz. They also told me that it is hard to get a really accurate measurement when you get out of the first trimester.

My last baby was a big baby like her brothers but they made me take the glucose test. She was just huge. Also my dates did not match the scan dates at all. If I went by the scan dates my daughter was conceived 2 days into my period um no way! Stick to your dates scans are not always accurate. I had to have a scan every two weeks of pregnancy because of a blood work problem and one lady who scanned me at 32 weeks said the baby was small for her gestation which all the others had said she is a whopper. The consultant sent me back for yet another scan because the baby according to the scan had lost weight. Any way the next day the scan was saying that she was a big baby again. At 35 weeks she was born 9lb 3oz she would of been a huge baby if she had gone full term.

I had no complications with either of my sons, so I know it comes as bit of a shock when these things crop up. Take every day as it comes if you end up having a c section it is not to bad so don't be worried. Just think that it is a means to getting your daughter out into the world safely.

Have you had another ultrasound previously? You may have been wrong on your conception date, or baby could just be larger too. I had a 10lb 4oz baby and I didn't have gestational diabetes so you can have a large baby without having it. My daughter always measured on the large side. I do know someone who did have GD though and she delivered (vaginally) a perfectly healthy little girl. You just have to control it, and things will be fine. As for placenta previa I don't know much about it but I do know they just monitor it and again, you can still have a completely normal/healthy pregnancy. Good luck, please keep us updated!
