too many people have named their kid Bella from Twilight. Can we say OVERKILL??? I like that old-fashioned names are coming back..Olivia, Sophia, Elizabeth, Grace, etc

Not yet.... my hubs wants to use Nala from the Lion king, but I dont really like it, I like Fiona but he pointed out shrek... so we kinda let them veto each other out :(

I got my daughter's name from a Dutch film characters name and most people love it. I wouldn't say I named her after the character, but got the idea from the movie character. I think of naming someone after another person is like naming them in honor of that person. The movie just gave us the idea for the name, like a name book would.

Blaine was also the name of the train in the Dark Tower books. I think it is in the 3rd book.

hi denise, it's not really silly if they call thier kids the same as other parents after tv character or personality names i also had looked up Temperance as how many around the world are called that as it barley registered on the 'how many are called....' list. i had decided to call her something different and bluebell ,pixi and inspektor pilot just didnt cut it- i truly feel for those kids with absolutely rediculas names like that, its no wonder the geldolf girls are lose cannons with names like that.( not to mention poor heavenly harani tiger lily)

I greatly enjoy literary names, but I think naming based on something as fleeting as TV or a movie is a little silly. To each their own.

Not to mention, if I weren't obsessed with giving my kids family names I'd probably have a Ripley (Aliens) and a Strider (Lord of the Rings). lol

My son's middle name is Grover after his great grandfather, but we sometimes call him "Little Blue Monster" because of Grover on Sesame Street. lol I don't see a thing wrong with it as long as it's a name you love.

lol i know what it is , tho i have to admoit its becoming a bit silly of late.......names i was liking the names olive elisa and aundria. but my friend said why not a tv name. they are more or less popular ie- emily emma etc... so i thought Temperance from bones i was going to name her may as a middle but it just didnt sit right and so i decided that grace would be it s one of my long time friends has a very inteligent sister called grace.......... my mother and aunt are silly and call her gracie because they dont like her name but i dont care what they think. i think it is rediculas that parents and auntys have to get involved when its not thier child................

My son was named from the movie fightclub, Brad Pitts characters name was Tyler Durden. We change it to Tyler Dean though. I wanted to call my son Logan Kale he was a character from the short lived series Dark Angel starring Jessica Alba and Michael Weatherly. Maybe the next one could be named Logan

It happens frequently. I met a mom who named her daughter Auralia from "Love Actually." Love that name! And I love Adele which was the leading female character in The Magestic with Jim Carrey....

Our son's name came from a variety of places, no less than two movies and two books/stories! I loved the name Roland from the Dark Tower books, and hubby liked it because it was the name of a hunter from a movie he really likes. Also, Roland was one of the knights of Charlemagne, which is cool because history is my thing. We got the middle name Blaine from the character from the movie Predator, and because it was hard to find a middle name we liked that worked!

Additional note - we have finnally decided on a name (that we both like thank GOD!) for DD2 when we have one - Carly we have been TTC #2 for a year now and we have never fully agreed on any name untill now. And i called him at work one day and said how about Carly and he said "i love it" and BAM it was done. I was of course watching Carly Corinthos Jack on GH at the time :~) so yeah on named after a video game and one a TV show!!! not sure on the spelling yet though

Absolutely, Lindsay Rasmussen! It's Mrs. Tisha Okunbor. My daughter, Paloma was named after a "French & Spanish Fashion Designer" named "Paloma Picasso" & she's also the daughter of "Late Pablo Picasso" who was a widely known "Phenomenal Artist!"

Well we didn't name her form a movie or TV we went even stranger and named her after a Video Game!!! Her name is Seralyn. Sera was the name from the game. And we get asked all the time where we got the name and the spelling. And i love the reactions i get form ppl when i tell them it was a video game!!!

I actually almost named my daughter the same name after the same character, also we had the namd Kadence (before it was popular) from the Movie Hallow Shal, I dont think there is anything wrong with it and as long as it fits your child, more power to you.

yes I have heard of somoene namen a kid after a TV character there is a cartoon that has the name Crew my cuzin name is little boy Krew after it I dont know if thats how he spells it but yes some people do name after TV characters, movies, famous people and other things like foods or seasons or even months in a yr.
