Yeah, i think I'm at the point where I am going to buy an ergo. I have heard so many good things about it and i see them everywhere. My husband used to love the Moby around the house but he'd never wear it in public. So hopefully he will with the Ergo.

We totally love the Ergo too! My daughter is 9 months as well. She weighs 19 lbs and we can go out and about for literally hours in the Ergo. Before the Ergo we used the Moby a lot, but now the Ergo is our go-to carrier because my daughter LOVES it. My husband volunteers to wear her in the Ergo but NEVER did that with the Moby. I think the Ergo is one of the most dad-friendly carriers out there. Good luck!

I have several different types of carriers because I find that they all serve different purposes. For example, for everyday use around the house, I prefer my mei tais because I can do easy and comfy back carries. When I'm out somewhere, I prefer my soft-structured carriers due to the ease of the buckles for frequent ups and downs, and so I'm not dragging straps in the dirt. In the winter I like my pouches and stretchy wraps because they fit easily under my coat. There's no way I could live with just one carrier! :)

I like my maya wrap and still use it for my 22 month old, but I think I liked it better when she was a baby.

I hated the padded ring sling given to me by the public health nurses because I couldn't adjust it enough for my teeny 5 pound 15 ounceer and she was always lost in there, but it might have worked once she was bigger (I gave it away).

I haven't field tested it yet, but I like it so far. I'm 32 weeks pregnant so it's mostly for my husband to use when we're out and about. (who thinks babywearing dads are sexy? lol)

I absolutely LOVE mei tais. I make my own, so the padding and measurements are custom for to both of us. One of my sorority sisters who babysits Paddy is now addicted to wearing him, too. lol We went for a walk the other day and that was the first time she'd seen me with him tied up. She was really confused at first but pretty soon got interested and wanted to try it. She was amazed how comfortable it was and how much clamer Paddy was in it than when she carried him. Now every time she babysits she wants me to pack a mei tai so she can wear him. She's already begged me to make her some when she has a baby and wants me to make one for her cousin who just had a baby. I guess she called her later that day and raved about it. lol So now I'm passing on the addiction as well.

My favourite was always the Maya wrap. Simple, easy to use, versatile. I wore my son until he was about 36 pounds (age 2) either on my hip or as a backpack carry. I LOVED wearing him. :) Good luck.

I would suggest an ERGObaby carrier or some other type of carrier that evenly distributes the weight (as opposed to on one shoulder). I love my ERGO! I really like how the majority of the weight is on my hips too instead of on my back and shoulders. It's so comfortable and I can still carry my 24lb son for extended periods without any pain or discomfort...just a good work out and some tired muscles ;)

Ring slings are great but padded ones can be very bulky and hard to adjust. I would suggest an unpadded ring sling...you can find some great patterns at http://www.sleepingbaby.net/jan/Baby/ make sure you get your rings from slingrings.com they are specially made for ring slings. Also a woven wrrap (neobulle, girasol, didymos) has an easier learning curve than gauze. Gauze wraps can be great but the material can tend to stick together causing pressure points in you doing wrap it perfectly. Hope that helps!!!

I was the same as you - addicted but couldn't quite find the right one. Then I found mei tais. They are exactly what we want and really versatile and easy to use. When she was smaller I preferred Hotslings or a Moby like carriers but now that she can "sit up" in the wrap and see the world she and I both prefer the mei tai. Although, if you get a gauze wrap let me know how you like it. I'm really wanting to try a Gypsy Mama or Wrap 'n' Wear gauze wrap for summer. I'm fairly certain I will cave in and be buying one in the next month or so.
