i've tried a homemade ring sling, a bag-style sling (before i knew of the recalls), 2 different front carriers, and a homemade wrap (like a moby). she hates all of them! shes 3 months old and already 16lbs so it hurts my back and arms to carry her all the time and the carriers take so much pressure off, but she flips out when i put her in them. any suggestions?

I only had a front pack carrier for the first 3 months of my sons life. It was very uncomfortable and hurt my back. I switched to a Mod Mum Baby Sling and loved it! My son loved the hip carry, because it was the same natural position I would carry him in. When he got tired I would just put him in a cradle carry, and he would quickly drift off to sleep. It was quick and easy to put on, so I never left the house without it. In fact I could clean my entire house in it! You can carry kids up to 2-3 years old, so I really felt like I got my money out of it.

This may sound trivial, but make sure her diaper is clean and she isn't hungry when you first put her in your sling/carrier/wrap. And start out just carrying her a few minutes. Every day, gradually increase the time she's in the carrier. Take her places around your house and talk to her. She should eventually realize that a carrier isn't so bad!

I would continue to try. Make it fun perhaps with a special song, maybe a little dance, a toy etc. Try to distract her from being put into the wrap long enough to get her comfy. Also, have you tried different types of carries? Particularly with the wrap you have tons of options (maybe she wants to be more upright, maybe she wants her arms in/out). Keep trying!! She should eventually get used to it and it'll be soooo great for you.
