I'm wondering how much time in a day a baby should spend in a sling? My baby is 3 months old, and we use both a Moby and a Beco Butterfly.

sure, anyplace that a baby will sleep is a good place!!! and if he'll sleep in the wrap as you get your grocery shopping done, even better!!!

I certainly make sure my 3 month old DS has tummy time every day; even time just sitting up on the couch while mommy types away on FB.

Almost as soon as I put him in the Moby he falls asleep. It's okay to have him nap in the moby vs. his swing/crib, right?

Just like without a sling, tummy time is important. They need to have time unsupported/unrestrained to use their muscles, on their front and their back. At around 3 months, your baby might already be rolling over or will be soon. Give lots of opportunity for that.

I use my slings for convenience while out and about or for getting stuff done while the baby is cranky and demanding to be held.

Like Emily said, Carseats are for cars and Babies should not be worn while cooking.

If your baby will only sleep while being worn, do what you have to, but remember it's ok to put the baby in the crib and take a break to maybe pee or shower or brush your hair ALL BY YOURSELF!!

You're the mommy! You make the decisions! Good Luck!

My second daughter loves to be worn much more than my first so I definitely carry her as much as possible.  But don't forget about tummy-time!  I try to give my babies 3 10-minute sessions per day.

I personally held or wore my baby all the time except for naps, or if I had to do something that was very difficult or impossible to do while wearing him.  At those times, I'd put him in his swing for a few minutes.  It never felt right to me to leave him lying on his back somewhere while he was awake.

As much time as you both want. I would say probably not all day every day, but some days are just like that. At those times when baby is content to be on the floor or in a seat, great. I mostly use my slings when out and about, but do use them at home during fussy times. I use ring slings, wraps, and an ABC (Asian Baby Carrier) type.

My infants spent as much time in carriers or just in arms as possible. I do try to put my little ones down for naps if we're home during a nap time... and I obviously put them in the carseat for drives (but I don't carry the infant seat into stores... that's what the wrap is for. :) ), and I put them down if I need to cook dinner or do something else that I don't feel comfortable doing with an infant strapped to me. Other than that, my kids are always with me unless they ask to get down.
