I have an ergo and a kelty and BOTH are indispensable for my day to day life. I live in a baby wearing culture by the way. I have also just become aware of Boba and tell you the truth it looks awesome!
The only thing about the ergo is you can use the ergo from birth on with an infant insert. But you could always use a ring sling or another type of baby carrier for when the baby is very little and switch to the boba as baby gets bigger. I mean what baby wearer enthusiast doesn't have multiple type slings and carriers right? :)
My baby is 19 months and has been able to use the ergo w/o a infant insert since she was 4 months. I'm sure she could also have been fine in the boba for that time as well.
Here is a link that compares the ergo, boba and and the oh snap. It is very informative I think.

The Boba carrier looks like it has adequate support, but it is hard to tell if the child's weight is on the shoulders or the hips. In order to protect your back, you need to use your legs to carry the extra weight, not your back.
I had a Kelty pack that had a metal frame to it. I could carry my kids until they weighed 40 pounds without any trouble, because ALL the weight was on my hips and legs. The chest strap is only for balance, and the shoulder straps hardly touch the shoulders at all. I had 3 boys and worked full time. When I was home, there was always a child on my back. The only way to get things done was to use the Kelty. Hope this helps:)
